The navigation for CleanMyPC is very simple. The left side of the screen offers four function options. You may choose from Scan and Clean, Backup and Restore, Startup Organizer and Internet Explorer BHOs. With one-click functions, scanning your registry for possible errors is an uncomplicated process.

Feature Set:  

The Auto Start manager grants instant access to programs which start automatically when you logon to your computer. This allows you to focus on individual programs and avoid automatic startup of certain programs. CleanMyPC has another useful feature that scans for (BHOs) Browser Helper Objects. A BHO is an add-in program for Internet Explorer designed to add certain features, like a search bar, to the program. However, some BHOs are dangerous and may include adware or spyware. This feature allows you to disable any suspected spyware. This software also boasts the ability to backup and restore your windows registry with a few simple clicks of your mouse. The Explorer Guard protects your homepage from possible highjack. CleanMyPC is lacking a few convenient features such as the ability to defrag your registry after making corrections and the option to undo individual corrections.

Ease of Installation:  

There were no problems during the installation of CleanMyPC.

Help/Support:  

The help and documentation segment for this program is adequate. The help key grants instant access to the help manual. There is also available email support.

Safety:  

CleanMyPC detects errors in the registry and divides the errors into individual categories. After this process is complete, you may view the details of each error. The details section does an inadequate job of explaining the specific errors, but includes a handy button which transports you directly to the error. Although this feature is convenient for the advanced user, it does little to direct the novice user's action with the error. CleanMyPc edits BHOs by marking whether each individual BHO is safe, based on the internal list.

CleanMyPC is a user-friendly program which detects registry problems very well. Improvements in the safety division, including severity rankings, are necessary for the novice user.
